Sunday Snapshot • May 2

Here’s the May 2 election snapshot,  a weekly look at how municipal candidates are distributed across our grand city.

Eight new candidates registered this week, in wards 3, 8, 18 (two), 22, 28, 33 & 34 (currently held by Holyday, Perruzza, Giambrone, Walker, McConnell, Carroll &  Minnan-Wong).

Four wards still have acclaimed candidates: 2 in Etobicoke and 2 in North York.

Here’s a map of the ward numbers, to help you navigate.  (Click on the map to find out which ward you live in.):

  1. I think it’s kind of funny there are 4 sitting councillors that still haven’t done anything, be it announce their retirement or sign up to run again.

There’s tons of time remaining, but it just seems weird to me that months into the election they haven’t declared their intention to run again or retire.

Paging Holyday, Grimes, Feldman, and Shiner. Make up your minds already and if they’re made up, fill out the form so Mes’s map can get more colourful (since that’s the only important part of this election anyway).

  2. Incumbents Out

Please folks, vote against all incumbents!
On principle, we need to kick every sitting councillor out of office. The top bureaucrats might be scared that their is no one in office who owes them any favours, and get their acts together in a hurry. The unions (who take their cue from lazy management) might actually fall in line. Over the course of a few years, the City might get a lot more productive, and huge amounts of cash would be appear from efficiencies. End result: we could build ourselves some transit.
